LSA Rec. Team Formation Policy - Fall 2010
Agreed to by the Rec. Committee and Rec. coaches:
  • All registrations received before the deadline of July 26 will be automatically placed on prior teams. New players will be placed on the wait-list.

  • All registrations received after July 26 are placed on the wait-list.

  • On August 3 a Coaches/Team Formation meeting will place all wait-listed players on teams mutually agreed to by all coaches within each age group.

  • All registrations received after the August 3 meeting are placed on teams as space allows. There are NO requests or changes allowed after the August 3 meeting.

Where and when are games held?
Games are held at Memorial Field in the Metro Parks on Saturday mornings. A map to Memorial Field is on our Forms and Maps page. Games start times are 8:30, 9:30, 10:30, and 11:30. You will get a schedule before the season begins.

When and where are practices?
Each individual coach schedules the team’s practice, usually once a week. There is also a large group practice/skills training once a week. Your coach will let you know when the practices will be held. Practices take place at a variety of locations including Lakewood Park and Madison Park.

Where do I get a Rec. uniform?
Geiger’s Sporting Goods 14710 Detroit Ave carries uniforms.

What does my child need to play?
Uniform from Geiger’s consisting of one purple and one gold shirt, black shorts, shin guards and socks (around $30 and can be used for multiple years). He will also need cleats (can be bought anywhere).

How do I know what age division my child will be in?
Players will be assigned to teams based on OYSAN age guidelines as listed in US Youth Soccer Registration Ages chart. LSA will place your child in the appropriate age bracket. Players may play with their grade level if it is different from their age group.

What is the refund policy?
Refunds in the form of a credit minus $15 administration fee will be made prior to the team formation meeting upon request. Once placed on a team, it is the policy of LSA to refund registration fees only if the child is unable to participate due to injury or illness as documented by a physician.

Are all the teams co-ed?
Yes. Boys and girls should be distributed equally among teams in each age bracket.

Can I request for my child to play on a specific team or with a friend or sibling?
Due to the number of children it is not possible to accommodate any requests. A sibling may “play up” one year only to play with another sibling with the consent of the coach and league.

Will my child stay on the same team from season to season?
Your child may or may not be on the same team. New teams will be formed prior to the fall season. Teams will be formed with the goal of having evenly matched teams at each age level. Coaches will participate in team formation. Teams formed in the fall will remain together for spring (provided the player registered for fall and spring in the fall or registered for spring by the on-time registration deadline). Players added in the spring will fill empty roster spots. New teams may be added in the spring as well.

I missed the registration deadline can I still register my child?
Late registrations will be taken as space allows. Team placement is not guaranteed. In the spring late registrations will not automatically be placed on their fall team as they would if they had registered on time. They will be added to the team with the least number of players.

Who runs LSA?
LSA is run by its members. It is a non-profit association that depends on its members’ participation. All members are encouraged and expected to participate in some way.

How can I help?
There are many volunteer opportunities. We can always use coaches and assistant coaches, and there are training sessions to help anyone who hasn’t coached before. In addition, volunteers are needed to set up the fields every game day, transport the equipment to and from the fields, help run the concession stand, and serve in leadership positions. Check off how you can help on the registration form or contact a board member to volunteer.
